My 10 reasons why Singapore is the best place to live for an Expat!

1.Beautiful, well-maintained and clean city (awesome Skyline, Merlion, MBS).

Singapore Skyline
That is a wrong impression that a city with high rise buildings lack of green spaces. Singapore is the best example for the opposite. Being loyal to their aim of making Singapore as a garden, they continuously work on the maintenance of lively natural places in the island. There are numerous gardens, parks and nature reservoirs which perfectly proves the statement, that Singapore is one of the most biodiverse regions of the world.

2.Multicultural environment.

Indian, Malay, Chinese and the Ang Moh, happy family! Nobody has to change and compromise their cultural heritage. Singapore is a peaceful home to different people, beliefs and lifestyle!  :)

3. Festivals are essential part of the everyday life.

4. Nature Parks, secondary rain forests and cheeky monkeys!

5. East Coast Park and beaches at Sentosa.

I will never forget the precious months we spent near the sea, when we were staying at Marine Terrace. The paradise had been only 10 mins walk away from our place, was simply priceless to go there anytime for a walk, to jog, skate or relax...The picture below speaks more than I ever could...

Sunshine, palm trees, happiness!

Sentosa, a resort Island with its several beaches (Siloso beach, Palawan beach) is an ultimate holiday destination just a stone's throw away from the bustling city. Here is a short video of the so called "Bikini beach:

6. Several number of awesome Buddhist and Hindu(South Indian) temples.

My top favorites:

7. Mustafa 24/7

The most famous shopping and dining destination in Singapore, located in the heart of Little India, provides everything you need from groceries to electronics, cosmetics and clothes. And it's open non stop! I love midnight shopping!! ;)

Serangoon Plaza & Mustafa Center

8. Hawker Centers

The best way to experience the flavors of the Lion City!!
My nr.1 favorite is Lau Pa Sat, the "old market" at Downtown Core.

9. Safety and good public transport.

Safety means not only lack of crime (less crime I would say), but food and water safety as well. The country makes maximum efforts against diseases too, for example against Dengue by controlling mosquito breeding and making it compulsory to take preventive actions at our homes, and punishable if you are not doing so.
As the slogan says, Singapore is a "fine" city, which means, if you are not willing to follow the law you will have to bear the consequences...

For me public transport is a great treasure here compare to my home country. Locals generally complain about it, but they should go to countries with much less facilities and commuting culture to appreciate it.

Double-decker rulez! :)

10. Holiday-feeling all year long!

Whatever the occasion be, the city is always ready to transform into festival mood: lights, statues, sculptures, temporary markets and stalls, open air movies are all there for you to be entertained! Gardens by the Bay is one of my favorite places which brings color to our life from time to time.

  2. Hey Beata!
Nice piece of work. The city does speak for itself. I had the time of my life while I stayed there. It truly felt like coming home. The way you’ve brought out the idea on how Singapore is the home of many cultures is simply superb.
