Silver Chariot Procession, the Eve of Thaipusam

The first day, "The Eve of the Thaipusam"  falls on 23 January in 2016 (Saturday) and takes place at the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple.
The second day,  the "Thaipiusam Day" is on 24 January 2016 from early morning onwards!

The Thaipusam festival started yesterday (02 February 2015) with a Silver Chariot Procession when Lord Murugan along with his consorts were placed on a decorated chariot and taken from Sri Thendayuthapani Temple to Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar temple at morning, then back at the evening.

I attended on the evening walk from Chinatown (at 6pm) through the downtown till the Fort Canning Park, where the Thendayuthapani temple is situated.
The distance between the two temples about 2 km (25 mins) walk, but it takes longer when you stop and take pictures at the "stopping points". I was quite tired by the time we arrived, the night-time does not make any difference in our heat sense at all, so sweating is guaranteed after a short walk too. But it worth the sweat drops coz' I have been told that one who walks with the chariot will surely receive the blessings from Lord Vinayagar.

Evening procession started from Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar temple

First stop at Indian Overseas Bank, Cecil street

Second and third stops at D'Almeida street

Final destination, the chariot has arrived back to its starting point:
