Lau Pa Sat Festival Market has re-opened its doors on 30. June, after a long 8-month reconstruction break.
Annual Singapore Food Festival between 11-20 July in various locations.
My preferred destination was the Chinatown Food Street:
The River Nights by the Asian Civilisations Museum marked the beginning of the Singapore Heritage Festival in 18-19 July, with awesome music-, dance-, art performances and opened house to the Museum.
The performance of the Jigri Yaar Bhangra Singpore was quite popular, it made the audience to bhangra as well!
The mayor event of the month started in 28 June with Ramadan and ended in 28 July on Eid ( Hari Raya Aidilfitri) for the Muslim communities. This time it definitely worth a visit to the Arab street and Paya Lebar area to see the special street lights, to shop and taste ethnic (Malay) foods at the temporary erected Hari Raya Bazaar.
This year, an another important event also falls at the day of Eid, according to the Chinese Calendar, the Ghost month has started on 28 July.
It is believed, that this month the doors of the hell are opened, and spirits are freely roaming around and visit the living. So people try to "entertain" them by lighting up candles and incenses on the street, burning fake bank notes and gifts, and offer fruits to the deceased.
The Ghost Festival will be held on 10 Aug in Singapore when "Getai" shows are performed by singers, dancers on temporary stages. I'm looking forward to see one! :) :)
