Johor Bahru is situated at the southern part of Malaysia, very near to Singapore. A famous shopping destination among Singaporeans as the prices are said to be twice less then in Singapore.
"How to get there? " is the frequently asked question by tourists(like me), and we can find many forums and blog posts on how and when.
There are several possibilities, and not difficult to get lost in the informations :D
I guess the most convenient option to go from the Queen street in Little India, where you can take the Express bus (Causeway Link-CW2) between Johor and Sg. The SMRT bus 170 is also good and can be found at the same station, but it has stops at every corner, so I would not recommend.
The express bus ticket costs 2.50 S$ which you can buy at the bus terminal.
The first stop will be the Woodlands Checkpoint where you have to proceed to the immigration check (first part) to leave Singapore. Then rush to the bus stop and try to catch the same bus u came by :D No problem if u missed it as u can get on the next one to Johor Bahru's checkpoint ( Sultan Iskandar CIQ complex).
Do not forget your passport and visa if it is needed. Hungarians can travel Malaysia without visa and stay there upto 90 days :)
After we arrived to Johor Bahru Sentral did not continue our journey to the inner city, so I donno exactly how to travel within JB, but for those who want to get to the Larkin bus terminal, I guess they have to catch the same express bus again which goes there(final destination of the CW2 from Queen street). Buses are going to different spots of Malaysia(Kuala Lumpur, Melaka..etc) from the Larkin bus terminal.
(At this point I would note that the system for me is a bit tiring, it is like a Hop On Hop Off tour but not that fun I feel...)
So the most simple solution to stay at the Sentral and discover the City Square Mall and its area.
Points of interest:
-Jalan Wong Ah Fook road which is the main road of JB.
-Jalan Trus road with a Hindu temple and the Galleria Kotaraya
-Masjid India
-Old Chinese Temple
-Sultan Ibrahim Building
-Gurudwara Sikh Temple
Johor Bahru has a totally different ambience than Singapore. Those who do not like to see old, ruined and poor houses contrasted with modern buildings, or signs of the not too safe and criminal life, should not go there. Most people are not attracted to these environments, but other people like me, have a special feeling when arrives to a place where we can see the 'shade' embraced by palm trees :) Before I visited to Kuala Lumpur, I read many forums on the safety. I did the same before my JB trip. I have to say the picture is not positive, Kuala Lumpur is said to be the sixth most dangerous place in the world(I loved it!!), I don't know what is the rating regarding JB, but they say the crime rate is very high. So it is better to be cautious, mind our valuables and walking in group and preferably in daytime. Here you can find the places which considered to be 'unsafe':

There are much more attractions to see in this city, so at my next visit I would like to go to the world's first Hindu glass temple(Arulmigu Rajakaliamman Temple http://johortravel.com/arulmigu-sri-rajakaliamman-glass-temple/) and the cheapest zoo(Johor Bahru zoo) too ;)
